well folks here i am writing to you back in jersey and still recovering. as you can see by the picture in the background i'm tuning into the world cup and italy have jts beaten germany as i'm writing this. for you folks in the states this is the start of the euro blog and i'll try to point out where we are as best i can. to start jersey is where i live and is a small island so close to france you can see it on a good day. i came back to this wonderful little rock last night around 5 pm from a long l.a flight and a short london flight. the sky's were preparing for a thunderstorm as andy's dad picked us up from the airport. waiting along side was andy's mum and his son luke. man we must have looked like two stow aways with our two day shadow from not shaving and our lack of hygiene. i headed home straight away and was met by mark and his family at the stables and office. mark and i have a great chat about america, of course he was there for the new york gig so he kinda knew some of the score. mark kindly invites me out for dinner and after half an hour i'm washing my face and preparing to go out. we head for st brelades which is a stunning beach area and has a lovely beach cafe there. we have a bit of fantastic seafood paella and after a couple of hours checking out the most stunning views i head for the hay. it's back to the writing and normality here in my home turf so forgive me if the blogs are not as long or interesting as they were on my travels. one thing i must say is this is the first place i have ever enjoyed coming back to after touring, if you ever travel europe way don't forget to stop off in jersey and in fact all the channel islands en route to france.

well friends
i'm no sooner home in jersey and i'm back in the studio with deimos again. deimos valerkou is a great fellow and also the guy who recorded my sunnyside P.A.L demos with me. deimos and i have been firm friends ever since. he's a lad of cypriot descent and proud of it too. whilst in america miles had asked me to go to work on some new ideas for a possible re release of some of the tracks from sunnyside P.A.L alongside some brand new tunes for france. i think i must keep this momentum going ? which isn't too difficult for me as i just cant get into a sleeping pattern back here yet since my return from america. speaking of which, my dear american friends it seems almost like light years away since i left the shores of the usa but the reality is it was only a few days ago. i can't wait to get back to see you all again. anyway back to the studio, i have this new song i just wrote on wednesday morning and i want to get it out to miles and the guys at the los angeles office asap, so today we started to work on it. of course we are up against time already as i leave for bonnie scotland on sunday afternoon to catch up with my family and play some concerts there too. we have two shows in the beautiful village of glenfarg in perthshire @ the bein inn on wednesday and thursday and on friday we play glasgow my home town @ st andrews in the square. though i was born in glasgow i was raised in a steel and mining town called coatbridge about 8 miles east of glasgow. this was once a real thriving industrial town but like so many other places around these isles it's a sad excuse for employment now unfortunately. i think probably the biggest employer there these days is the social security office which looks after all the people who can't get work, my grandfather had cobbler shops in the town when it was a thriving place i wished i could have seen it then. lets not ponder too much on that and focus on the agenda for our trip next week in scotland. as well as the gigs we will be hopefully further recording the new tune at graeme duffin's studio www.foundrymusiclab.com as well as graeme i hope to entice ross macfarlane and some other great scottish players who will hopefully assist us with this demo. but for the meantime it's back to the drawing board tonight as deimos and i have been at the studio pretty much most of the day. i'll continue my little blog till i hit the scottish glens and mountains and then i might have a chill for a few days but i wont be far away.

well folks
what a couple of days we've had here in scotland so much for slowing down. we've been down in graeme duffin's studio in motherwell, scotland recording this new song which i'm listening to while writing this and i've got to say what a job he (graeme) and all concerned have done with it. it's the cowboy and a belly dancer falling in love concept ???? i'll explain it all one day. suffice to say we have a rough mix and tomorrow graeme will have a mix i can send to miles in america. we had ali, esther, zac and of graeme all on the demo and it sounds wonderful, thank you folks. i have enclosed some pictures for you to see of the guys in the studio doing the real work. i am now off to see the st andrews in the square glasgow venue as we have some things things that need taken care of before the gig. i hope to see some of you guys down there. we have lot's more stories to tell at the gig and have new t shirts, hats and badges. the last picture in hte trio is of me and a possible future musician ?? family member tomas from belfast who thinks one day he could be a musician too. i hope he becomes whatever he want's to be especially if it's a musician, as this is a most satisfying route straight to the heart kind of career

well folks
after just spending an hour writing another version of this blog my computer crashed and my head with it, so forgive me if this web log is a short one. i'm back home now in jersey after 3 hours sleep in stainsby after a great but crazily busy week in scotland and england. let me start where i left off in glasgow. myself and graeme duffin leave our prospective studio and promoting duties in the west to head to the bein inn glenfarg for what turned out to be a great show there on thursday. i must say sorry if anyone was affected directly with us pulling the plug on wednesdays proposed show. the tickets were moving at a snails pace for that particular night and it seemed it was the right thing to do ? i hope it was anyway for all concerned ??. thursday though on the other hand was a total success, but for one thing. my little glasgow purchased mirror ball was not working (no batteries, no extra required chain from which to hang it with) but we'll get that sorted for future gigs. you folks up there in glenfarg were great. after a really late night i meet up with graeme, stuart and diane downstairs for breakfast prior to our glasgow departure. the glasgow gig was always going to be mayhem for me as i promoted it too. i realised early doors in st andrews in the square on friday that i'd taken too much on, but with the good help of susie, joe and many others that i keep forgetting to mention it turned out to be a roaring success. phil, graeme and myself were joined on stage by ali, esther, jamie and zac, value for money or what ???. one thing still wrong though was we had no mirror ball again as i left it in the bein inn !!!!!!!!! too many things to remember and not enough brains for the duties needed to be carried out. the crowd in glasgow were great as always, it was a another super night thank you. after another late night and me talking too much after the gig (who me ?? no !!!! ) we had another early rise. at 6 am as we jetted off to the sunny climbs of east midlands where brendan and brian kindly join us at the airport and we duly head off for the stainsby festival (derbyshire) for two days. not though before we stop off and say hello to our friends in jericho house. after a quick blast of "me and you", "my friends a junkie" and "round here" away we go arriving on the fesival site at around 3.30. stainsby is a small but well run little family festival, there are kids running around everywhere it's great. the volunteersand i'm sure many of them all are working hard as we get there. celeste chris and mrs wilkinson to name just but three are aided by john ramsay and the efx audio posse from bathgate scotland for sound and many many more. tent builders from norwich and all the bizarre other things you need to make for a good little festival. i meet with old and new friends. dougie maclean plays after me also the following night sunday boo howerdine co writer i think of "the patience of angels" ? eddie readers song from her self titled album sings that song and plays for us all too. it was great. weird masked looking people dance with drums and light flares and fireworks. the children are amazed and young people sing i wish i was a dickie bird. then there's us ?? we generally as scottish/ glasgow adult men go around the festival site acting like 6 year olds on a school trip to burnt island (it's in scotland). it was braw as they say in the old country. not sure we're our next trips will be too or lead us but the adventure continues and i hope to keep you informed.

well folks
hello and glad to be with you all again after a fantastic wee trip to brittany. i was joined at the last minute on this holiday by my young friend conor rooney who's the kid of my friends joe and karen. we had a blast, camping all week and eating chocalate croissants and crepes. so now it's back to work. " graeme duffin " informed me that billy sloan played " the cowboy lament " on his show last sunday ( the cowboy lament is a new song of mine i played at the last glasgow gig we did and i also recorded a demo of it with graeme in scotland) .www.clyde1.com is where you can find billy sloan and you really should listen to him he's great. his show airs every sunday night 7pm uk time he is a great ambassador for all kinds of music and he likes my tunes too. anyway back to france. it really was a hoot we camped most nights and also got to go to the vieilles charrues festival which i think is europes biggest festival now ? we watched tracy chapman and the pixies, we missed madness and placebo which was a bit of a bummer but it was a great day/night and was conor's first festival. 12 years old and checking that out not bad eh !! we then headed for a place called crozon were we spent 2 nights. it was right on the sea and was beautiful. the silencers poster you see was from a club there were the boys and girls were playing. i made a few adjustments to the posters just for the hell of it. if you look closely you'll see 2 jj gilmour flyers on there, i hope they found it as funny as i did. ( all in good taste kids ) we then headed back the to a place called paimpol. lovely it was too we spent a night there and then headed for a night in a place called taden close to dinan and also close to st malo where the next evening we caught our jersey ferry. we arrived home friday night a little battered from the camping but satisfied with our little mystery tour.
todays 3 picturs are linked in a strange way. firstly we have " le dundee creperie" then a road sign for " broons" and lastly as i explained " the silencers poster ". and now ladies and gentlemen the link ???? they were all taken in france but of course all route back to scotland. dundee is the home of " the broons " scotlands famous fictitious cartoon family from " the sunday post " a scottish newspaper owned by the dc thomson family originally from dundee. the last link is jj gilmour was asked to join the silencers whilst living in dundee. maybe i should call moulder and scully to see if there's anything in that ???
the truth is out there !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

hi all
hope your well its saturday the 19th of august and the days are flying by,( but they do say that happens as you pass 21 ). being 22 i feel that !!!! these past few weeks have been as much of a study and reflection of my life and my career than i think i've ever looked at. coming home from america and the steven seagal tour has made me look at things in a newer light. let me first say it was no life changing experience travelling with mr seagal but it was one of good fortune which i thoroughly appreciated, it also afforded me lots of time to sit on the tour bus and just think. across to the left you'll see a picture of me and a tree ?? exactly. let me explain this picture in more detail. the tree was planted in memory of PAUL ANTHONY LENNON or ( P.A.L ) as many of us have seen written down countless times before, especially after i dedicated my album to the memory of him. PAUL joined my life at an early age, 5 to be precise. we were never separated for any longer than a few months after that first meeting till he passed away about 24 years later. it's been a few years now since my brother passed on and whilst in america touring i found myself explaining all over again about the album title and who he was to interested parties, fortunately there were a few people who were honestly interested. it never hurts me too much that I can't speak about him in fact i get a real warm glow from talking about our past. PAUL’s tree ( which by the way is planted in the grounds of raigmore hospital in inverness so kindly by the folks who loved and remembered him up there ) is pure evidence that he not only touched all of my families life’s but many many others too. i guess i’m missing him thus the reason i'm writing about him today, but i also just wanted to say to you all that our brothers, sisters, families and friends are more precious than diamonds and gold in my opinion.
moving onto other matters. we ( my management and myself ) will soon be entering into discussions with a new interested record label in europe. who knows what the outcome of our discussions will be ? but if we’re lucky enough to complete something with them then we may be able to re release or bring out a new format of sunnyside P.A.L ? even if that meant a title change for this new product. this would hopefully be followed by a brand new album. one thing is for sure though i’ll always remember that this record ( sunnyside P.A.L ) was the one that started me on my solo career, nothing can or will change that .i know a lot of you must be bored stiff with the album but i am totally striving everyday to bring you new songs and destiny willing a new record. in my reflection today i hope we can all as P.A.L’s learn to forgive and forget the troubles we encounter in life, especially with all the bullshit that it throws at us and concentrate on the real things. PAUL was my brother, a true friend and companion not only to me but to many others. i know that spirit of true friendship has stood this first solo album of mine's in good stead and i pray that that vein may continue through to the next albums i record.speaking of which by the way, for anyone who’s interested i have a working title for my next record it’s called “ the boy who didn’t fall “ i’m loving writing, playing and performing more than ever and hope to continue for many years to come.
your P.A.L

hi friends
it’s a lazy wednesday for me on my little rock i aint been riding my little horse jorvic well (gemma’s horse actually) these past few days as my old leg is hurting, anyway the flies and wasps are enough to put you off going out anywhere at the moment. fall is in the air and the summer’s drawing to a close the nights are getting chilly in jersey, it probably is where you are too though maybe not in australia?.
tour talk
we’re looking at setting the scene again for touring and it looks like it may be in america and scotland for the time being. that’s really why i’m writing today’s blog , i want to look at coming to towns and city’s that i’ve never played before or places that i have'nt played for a while, its gotta make sense though? so my friends i’m appealing to you to write to me @ info@jjgilmour.com if you have a venue close by that you think i would suit. i’m up for taking risks but lets stay sensible here it's gotta be feesible. the venues that in my opinion would suit are ones that have a local crowd who come to see acts they don’t recognise and like to discover. i’ve found by touring with steven seagal, bob geldof and ocean colour scene (name dropper) over the last couple of years that no matter where or what the audience may be that i seem to get my message over to them. today’s world really is changing for a travelling wibury like me. slowly but surely folks are getting back to attending live musical performances again, recently in the news the rolling stones were reported to have had the biggest tour receipts in years. festival crowds are on the up, even our own little festival here “ jersey live “ this year has gone from a 1 day festival to 1 evening and 1 day, with bands like snow patrol, the zutons and the levellers all coming to play on our little rock, check it out man http://www.jerseylive.org.uk this is evidence indeed that live music is on the rise. my american tour with steven seagal recently (name dropping again) looks like it has now facilitated a solo tour for me of america which could be starting in late october? as some of you may know i have my new year gathering/party all planned this year in the stunning isle of skye. the details for tickets hotels etc should be up online on this website this week or a little later. i’ll also endevour to play glasgow again i'm sure before christmas and maybe dundee and maybe even edinburgh? i’ll for sure play glenfarg, perthshire scotland @ the famous bein inn and then head up to see gregor at the loft in foress, elgin if possible?, but i now want to spread my wings even further take a risk or two and get out there to let new folks here my tunes, wether that’s a town in france, belgium, spain, the u.s, canada scotland , england, ireland or wales, i dont mind at all. so please just let us know and hopefully we’ll be there soon enough with you.

hi all
just been back in scotland seeing my family and having some cool meetings with some nice people. I hope you like and enjoy the pictures. firstly the one of the lee's factory, who are a famous scottish confectioners and who were party in fact in starting my proper training as a singer. a man named john j lees the owner of that company which can be found at http://www.leesfoods.co.uk/index.html took an interest in my singing when i was at the fine age of 15. mr john j lees saw me sing at the then famous horse and coach restaurant in the coatbridge hotel. this was in those days for me stuff that dreams were made of and we had macaroon to boot. mr lees very kindly took time out of his busy life and and introduced me to a great singing teacher by the name of gino marchetti from bearsden in glasgow. (thank you john) i guess from there i was on my way and i duly joined my first band shortly after that by the name of transit. gino marchetti had other plans for me though!!! he wanted me to go to italy and train to be an italian tenor, but i was too scared to try it out and it may have meant me going to italy for a long time? i thought i’d miss my brothers and family too much and never went. well that’s what i remember? but you’d have to ask my mum as this is probably all bullshit. along the way and many years later i was to join my first real professional band “the silencers“. the other two pictures are taken from a video shoot with them for a song “wild mountain thyme“, the video was filmed in arron in the scottish isles and was later to be used for an advert for the scottish tourist board. check it out http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MagG8J--BBI
and check out steve price http://www.myspace.com/babyjesusfilms no relation to vincent i don’t think? he directed it, he‘s a star attraction check his myspace site out. anyway back to my scotland visit. it was a blast and my family and friends who though were not all 100% fit looked after me as they always do, especially my mother and susie. thank you. so what’s next for young mr gilmour? well the futures bright i think? and i also think that some of all this hard work will bear fruit soon. meantime kevin reid and i will post all the info you all need for the skye new years party we’re having on the site sometime this week, and I will keep stuart green up to speed with all the demo stuff and the downloads i promised to give you all from america. it’s hard when you do this all on your on so bear with me please well i beg for your forgiveness. i also plan to be in scotland for the whole month of december to tour and do different things, so keep an eye out on this site for the latest gig announcements coming sooooooooon.
lots to do and lots to tell, i’ll be back shortly

sept 11th 2006
new york new york so good they named it twice. well that indeed is an opinion shared by me too, what a fantastic city to visit. after that horrible day five years ago nyc and it's residents seem to be recovering slowly but surely. there's been a lot of tv programmes about the city recently obviously because of the time of year. i don't tend to watch much telly but i've found myself gripped to those images of the twin towers being so horribly attacked and eventually tumbling to the ground. september 11th also was the time my own father died 4 years ago so it's a doubly sad occasion for me, it's amazing how time goes by and it really is a healer. recently whilst in new york city supporting and on tour with steven seagal i completely forgot about ground zero it totally slipped my mind. i never ventured down to that part of townbut i can remeber what it looked like before as i spent 5 months recording sunnyside P.A.L in nyc and got to know the city quite well. i hope all the people of new york and anyone directly affected by that awful day have a good few friends around to help them through today. i personally send you my regards and also send them to anyone affected by war no matter where you are. it's a time for reflection for me today my old man was a good friend and a good help to me. . there are better days ahead my dear friends.
luv luv luv & peace
your P.A.L
